Pramod Sawant To Be BJP’s Chief Ministerial Candidate for 2022 Goa Assembly Election

JP Nadda, the leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), declared on Sunday that Dr Pramod Sawant would be the saffron party’s chief ministerial candidate in the important assembly election in Goa next year. According to sources, Nadda, who is in the state for a two-day visit, praised Sawant’s leadership abilities and stated that the BJP is looking forward to contesting the assembly elections under his direction next year.

“Pramod Sawant, the Chief Minister of Goa, has done an excellent job. Under his leadership, the country has progressed in every way. With him, we’re moving forward (as CM face). The official statement is made by the Parliamentary Board of the BJP, but there is no need to consider any other name “The news agency ANI cited Nadda as adding.

Nadda spoke with numerous state cabinet ministers, MLAs, and party leaders, saying the BJP is “optimistic” about winning the polls and that the saffron party has made “a great leap in the past 4.5 years” in Goa.

“During my meetings with ministers and MLAs, I discovered that the MLAs are really upbeat and confident. A large number of Congress leaders have defected to the BJP. I had in-depth conversations with them. They’ve commended the BJP’s efforts, which gives me hope “Nadda was reported by ANI as adding.

The Congress was the single-largest party in the previous assembly election in 2017, but the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) was able to retain power in the coastal state. Manohar Parrikar, a former Defence Minister, was elected Chief Minister of Goa at the time.

Sawant, on the other hand, took up the post in 2019 after Parrikar’s untimely death. On March 19, 2019, he was sworn in as chief minister.  Meanwhile, elections for Goa’s 40-member legislative assembly will take place in February or March of next year. The current assembly’s tenure will end on March 15, 2022.
