No Permission to Khela Hobe Diwas in Uttar Pradesh, Says TMC Official

The Trinamool Congress (TMC) has stated that they have been denied permission to hold its Khela Hobe Diwas on August 16 in Lucknow, and has written a petition to the district magistrate and superintendent of police about it.

The TMC claims that when they went to the police station to request authorization on Friday, they were told that they would not be granted permission.

“We have sent them a letter long ago, we have also mailed them, at the last moment they are saying they will not give permission,” state president Neeraj Rai said in a video on Twitter. They are purposefully doing this because the Yogi Govt is not interested in seeing anyone.”

The Uttar Pradesh TMC held a programme on July 21 to see Mamata Banerjee’s address on Martyr’s Day and subsequently protested against the increase in petrol prices. Some of those who took part were detained. They were advised that they needed to acquire permission 10 days ahead of time for the Khela Hobe Diwas.

While TMC ministers and MPs are in Tripura, they are unsure whether they will be granted permission for the event. TMC leaders intend to inform the rest of the country if the police in Tripura refuse to grant permission. Because the BJP received authorization for their Ashirbad Yatra, which will also take place on August 16, this is the reason. On Friday, the BJP held a protest demonstration against the TMC. Meanwhile, in Gujarat, the TMC has been given permission for the Khela Hobe Diwas celebrations.
