Prime Minister Narendra Modi slammed previous regimes in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday, saying that criminals used to play “their own games,” but that now the Yogi Adityanath government plays “prison jail” with them. “There were tournaments of unlawful land grabbing before,” he remarked after laying the foundation stone for the state’s first sports university, which will be named after hockey legend Major Dhyanchand and will cost Rs 700 crore to build.
Youths will now have the proper kind of opportunities in gaming, according to Modi. Daughters in Uttar Pradesh were reluctant to leave their homes after nightfall until five years ago, he claimed, but now they are “rising like stars.”
“People of Meerut and nearby areas can never forget how houses were set ablaze and people were forced to leave,” Modi added, referring to the Kairana migration, in which over 250 Hindu households are alleged to have fled due to fear of criminals. While this was going on, previous regimes were playing their own games.”
In his speech, he mentioned the shutdown of the illegal Sotiganj vehicle scrap market for the second time in his rallies in west UP, saying that the Yogi government has “put an end to the game of car theft.”
“Governments should behave like guardians and promote and support people with talents,” Modi remarked, without identifying former CM Mulayam Singh Yadav. “Ladko se galtiyan ho jati hain (boys make mistakes)” should not be used. In 2014, Mulayam stated that it is incorrect to condemn boys to death for rapes since boys make errors.
Modi also mentioned the sports goods, jewellery, and gajak-rewari sectors in Meerut. “Meerut is also regarded as a sports goods manufacturing centre, with products exported to over 100 countries. “This is what ‘local for vocal’ and ‘local for global’ really mean,” the PM added. The sports university will be built in Salawa village, which is located on the outskirts of Meerut.
