The Karnataka Assembly adjourned until Monday as the Congress escalates its demand for the removal of a minister

The Karnataka Assembly was delayed until Monday after the Congress demanded that the Minister for Rural Development and Panchayat Raj quit over his remarks against the national flag. The proceedings were scheduled to begin at 10 a.m., but were delayed by approximately two hours due to the din created by Congress MLAs shouting slogans in the House well.

The day began with a memorial service for former MLA G V Mantur, who died on Thursday at the age of 92 in Bagalkote. Soon after, the Congress MLAs began chanting slogans demanding Eshwarappa’s removal as Question Hour began. Later, Kageri requested that the opposition leader, Siddramaiah, speak on the motion of gratitude to Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot’s address, but the Congress MLAs refused. The Speaker responded by calling the Congress’s behaviour improper and urging them to stage the rally outside the assembly. J C Madhuswamy, the Minister of Law and Parliamentary Affairs, also condemned the Congress MLAs’ behaviour and urged the chair to put an end to the disruption of the house’s business.

“It isn’t just an insult to Minister K S Eshwarappa, but also to the Speaker of the House.” To maintain the house’s decorum, a decision must be made “Madhuswamy expressed his thoughts. K R Ramesh Kumar, a senior Congress MLA and former speaker, requested that the Congress MLAs be suspended because they had all decided not to go out. H D Revanna, a JD(S) MLA, also expressed his disgust with the house’s interruption over the past three days. Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai also chastised the Congress, claiming that the Karnataka Assembly had never seen such a demonstration for “trivial causes” before “.. .”Their (Congress) agitation is not in the public interest.

They’re doing it for the sake of status and political advantage. They’ve forgotten what they’re supposed to be doing. It demonstrates their ideological bankruptcy “Bommai expressed his displeasure. Bommai stated the opposition Congress MLAs’ behaviour was “disloyalty against the constitution of India and the children of the state, is equates to treachery,” and that they were simply seeking to gain public attention by disrespecting the chair “.

The Chief Minister pleaded with the Speaker to allow the House to resume normal operations. Congress members, on the other hand, continued to chant slogans demanding Eshwarappa’s expulsion for his “Bhagwa Dhwaj” statement. Finally, the Speaker postponed the house’s activities until Monday morning. The third-day disturbance occurred just hours after Congress members spent the entire night inside the Karnataka Legislative Assembly and Council, intensifying their demand for Eshwarappa’s dismissal and his arrest for sedition. On February 9, Eshwarappa stated that the ‘Bhagwa dhwaj’ (saffron flag) may become the national flag in the future. The senior party leader, on the other hand, stated that the tricolour is now the national flag and that it should be honoured by everybody.

“Hundreds of years ago, Sri Ramachandra and Maruthi’s chariots were draped in saffron flags. Was there a tricolour flag flying in our country at the time? “Now that it (the tricolour) has been fixed as our national flag, every person who eats food in this country should give it the respect it deserves,” Eshwarappa had remarked.
