West Bengal BJP MP Babul Supriyo altered his Facebook post shortly after announcing his resignation from politics, removing the portion regarding his devotion to the BJP as well as the part about not joining any other party. This has reignited rumours that the singer-turned-politician is considering returning to politics, albeit with a different political party.
Supriyo announced his retirement from politics in a lengthy Bengali Facebook post earlier today. He stated in it that he has always been a one-team player and has been a member of only one political party, the BJP. He did, however, remove this section of the post afterwards.
“I’m transferring to any other party after chatting with my father, mother, wife, kids, and friends and comprehending everything. TMC, Congress, or CPIM have not called me, and I will not join them. I am a firm believer in working as part of a team. Mohun Bagan has always been my favourite team. I’ve only worked for one political party, the BJP. That concludes our discussion.”
“I’m getting ready to leave. Goodbye Father, (mother), wife, daughter, good friends, I heard what everyone had to say. I am verifying that I am going after listening to everything.”
It’s unclear why Supriyo changed this part of his message, but it’s enough to make many wonder if he’s reconsidering his decision.
Babul Supriyo, a singer-turned-politician, took to social media on Saturday and tweeted “Alvida (farewell),” proclaiming that he will not join any other political party and will retire to focus on social activities.
Supriyo has lately suffered two major setbacks: first, he lost the Bengal elections, and then he lost his position in the Union Cabinet. He’s also had a tumultuous relationship with Dilip Ghosh, the Bengal BJP chief.
Babul Supriyo, who was elected to the Lok Sabha from Asansol, lost by 50,080 votes to Arup Biswas of the Trinamool Congress in Tollygunj in May of this year.
