Chirag Paswan removed as Lok Janshakti Party chief, Surajbhan Singh appointed as working president

Chirag Paswan was dismissed as the national president of the Lok Janshakti Party on Tuesday, a day after his party’s five MPs nominated his uncle Pashupati Kumar Paras as their new head.

Pashupati Kumar Paras was named the party’s new parliamentary leader in the Lok Sabha on Monday.

Meanwhile, Surajbhan Singh has been named the party’s National Working President. He has also been entrusted by the party with conducting elections for the position of national president.

LJP president Chirag Paswan compared the party to a mother who should not be “betrayed” in his first reaction after his uncle Pashupati Kumar Paras was dismissed as the party’s Lok Sabha leader.

He said in a tweet that he tried but failed to keep the party founded by his father Ram Vilas Paswan and his family intact.

In a democracy, the people are supreme, Paswan remarked, thanking those who have remained loyal to the party. Paswan also published a letter he wrote to his father’s younger brother, Paras, in March, in which he expressed his uncle’s dissatisfaction with a variety of topics, including his ascension as party president.
