Lucknow’s Mohanlalganj Reserve Seat has become a Prestige Battle for SP, while BJP Sees ‘Hope in Development Schemes’

Ambrish Pushkar of the Samajwadi Party defeated Ram Bahadur of the Bahujan Samaj Party by 500 votes in Lucknow’s Mohanlalganj (reserve) assembly seat in 2017. Both the SP and the BSP, however, have changed their candidates this time. While the SP chose Sushila Saroj as their senior candidate, the BSP chose Devendra Kumar Saroj.

Mamta Chaudhary is standing for the Congress Party, while Amresh Kumar is running for the Bharatiya Janata Party.

SP is presently the occupant of this seat. This time, all of the candidates appear to be confident in their ability to win.

Interestingly, the BJP failed to win the Mohanlalganj (reserve) seat even during the Modi wave in the 2017 UP Assembly elections. Earlier in 2012, SP’s Chandra Rawat was elected MLA from this seat, which has now been held by the SP for three years in a row.

Kumar believes that UP government programmes such as free rationing, ‘kisan samman nidhi,’ and the PM Awas Yojna will help the BJP sail through this period.

“We are optimistic of winning by a large margin since the people of Mohanlalganj have showered us with love and blessings.” We’ll be doing a lot of door-to-door campaigning this time, and we’re confident that we’ll win this seat by at least 50,000 votes. “I’m saying this because many social groups are backing me at this moment, and the benefits that people have received from government initiatives have tipped the scales in our favour,” he stated.

“At this time, the BSP is not competing anyplace; our fight is with the SP.” BSP’s base vote is now complete. Those who talk about the 2017 election results are making a mistake since things have changed in the BJP’s favour, and we are optimistic. People are pleased with the state’s law and order situation,” he continued.

The SP has stated that it will rely on the popularity of its candidate, Saroj. Saroj has also served as a Member of Parliament from the Mohanlalganj constituency.

Bakshi Ka Talab, Sarojini Nagar, Lucknow West, Lucknow East, Lucknow Central, Lucknow North, Mohanlalganj (Reserve), Malihabad, and Lucknow Cantonment are among the nine assembly seats in Lucknow that will vote in the fourth round on February 23. On March 10, all seats in Uttar Pradesh will be voted on.

The Election Commission has finished all voting preparations for this seat, including approximately 445 polling booths in 299 polling stations. This seat has around 1,89,131 male voters, 1,73,132 female voters, 28 third gender voters, and 4,737 first-time votes registered.
