The district administration has advocated renaming Miyaganj, a Gram Panchayat in Unnao, to Mayaganj, after the renaming of districts and railway stations in Uttar Pradesh.
Ravindra Kumar, the DM of Unnao, has written to the UP government in this respect. The name Miyaganj is expected to be changed to Mayaganj in the near future.
The suggestion to rename the gramme panchayat occurred following an open meeting in Miyaganj when it was decided to change the name to Mayaganj. In this case, a recommendation was made to the District Collector.
After giving the topic some thought, the DM wrote a letter of recommendation to the state government.
Following Yogi Adityanath’s election, the state’s districts and railway stations have been renamed. Mughalsarai Railway Station was previously known as Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Station. The tehsil’s name was later modified as well.
In a similar vein, Allahabad was renamed Prayagraj, and the city’s four railway stations were renamed as well. Allahabad Junction was renamed Prayagraj Junction, followed by Allahabad City Station, Rambagh, and Allahabad Chheoki Station.
The state’s Faizabad district was likewise renamed Ayodhya. Previously, Ayodhya city was part of the Faizabad district, but the district’s name has been changed to Ayodhya.
