‘My Successor Will Be From Dalit Community’: Mayawati on Reports of New BSP Chief Soon

In response to media speculations that BSP chief Mayawati is considering appointing a successor soon, the 65-year-old leader stated she does not need to do so because she is well enough to handle the party’s obligations at this time. The Bahujan Samaj Party supremo, on the other hand, stated that whoever was appointed will be from the Dalit group solely.

“I was watching a television interview with our party’s general secretary, Satish Chandra Misra. During the interview, he was constantly asked who would be my successor. I’d like to let the interviewer know that my health is fine right now. I don’t need to name a successor just yet. But, if the time comes and my health fails me, I will undoubtedly appoint a successor… “One thing is certain: the person would be from the Dalit community,” former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav was reported as saying in Lucknow by The Indian Express.

Mayawati went on to say that as BSP founder Kanshi Ram’s health deteriorated, he nominated her as his successor.

The Congress has been chastised for referring to her as “daulat ki beti.” “Mayawati blasted Congress national secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra in a party brochure, saying, “Whether it is a booklet or a drama, they (Congress) come and sit under Mahatma Gandhi’s monument.” They go to a location where an atrocity has occurred. Nothing will happen since everyone is aware of the situation.”
