The Karnataka government lifted the requirement that passengers arriving from Kerala and Goa submit a negative RT-PCR test report on Thursday. “Passengers arriving in Karnataka from Kerala and Goa via various modes of transportation would no longer require a negative RTPCR report,” tweeted Karnataka Health Minister Dr K Sudhakar.
This waiver was offered to Maharashtra travellers last week, he noted. Vaccination certificates are, nevertheless, required for passengers arriving from these states, according to the government.
The government implemented limits and made a negative RT-PCR test a requirement along with the double dosage of COVID-19 vaccine following the third wave of COVID-19, which began in the last week of December 2021. “The government took this decision after dropping cases, reduced hospitalisation, and fewer fatalities compared to the first two waves,” a health department official said.
On Wednesday, the state recorded 1,894 new COVID cases and 24 deaths. There were 23,284 active cases.
