Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated on Saturday that the anguish of the country’s split will never be forgotten, and that August 14 will be commemorated as ‘Vibhajan Vibhishika Smriti Diwas,’ or Partition Horrors Remembrance Day.
“The agony of the country’s separation will never be forgotten. Thousands of our sisters and brothers have been displaced and even killed as a result of hatred and violence. The 14th of August has been designated as ‘Vibhishika Memorial Day’ in honour of those people’s effort and sacrifice “In a tweet, Prime Minister Modi stated.
“#PartitionHorrorsRemembranceDay This day will not only inspire us to eliminate the poison of discrimination, animosity and ill-will, but it will also strengthen unity, social harmony and human sensibilities,” he added.
