PM Modi Security Breach: Haryana CM Asks President Dismiss Punjab Govt, Impose President’s Rule

In the midst of a political spat over Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s security lapse in Punjab this week, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar called to President Ram Nath Kovind on Friday to remove the Congress-led government and impose President’s rule in the state.

On Friday, a team led by Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar met with Governor Bandaru Dattatreya at Raj Bhavan and delivered a memorandum to President Ram Nath Kovind, urging him to take action against the Punjab government for its alleged “conspiracy” over PM Modi’s security failure.

“We are the world’s most populous democracy. The manner in which roadblocks were erected in the Prime Minister’s Punjab programme is very unacceptable. I have requested that the President remove the Punjab government and impose President’s control in the province “Following his meeting with the Governor, Chief Minister Khattar stated.

Due to a road roadblock near Ferozepur, Punjab, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s convoy got stuck for 15-20 minutes. The Prime Minister had to cancel his event in Ferozepur on Wednesday since he was travelling by road.
