UP Assembly Polls: AIMIM refutes rumours of forming an alliance with the Samajwadi Party

In the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, AIMIM has dismissed allegations that it may form an alliance with the Samajwadi Party.

Shaukat Ali, the president of AIMIM Uttar Pradesh, said ANI, “We have never indicated that if Akhilesh Yadav appoints a Muslim leader as deputy chief minister and the party wins power in Uttar Pradesh, AIMIM will form an alliance with the Samajwadi Party. We categorically deny the allegations, as neither I nor AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi made these claims.”

“We said that the SP received 20% of Muslim votes in the previous elections and won, but they appointed no Muslim as deputy chief minister,” he stated. According to reports, Asaduddin Owaisi indicated on Saturday that he is willing to forge an alliance with the SP provided SP head Akhilesh Yadav agrees to appoint any Muslim MLA as deputy chief minister in Uttar Pradesh.

AIMIM would run for 100 seats in Uttar Pradesh elections due for early next year, according to the Hyderabad MP.

There are now 110 Assembly seats with a Muslim voter population of 30-39 percent. This ratio rises to 40-49 percent in 44 districts, while Muslim voters account for 50-65 percent in 11 seats. Owaisi has already visited Lucknow and met with smaller political parties. He’s also a member of the Bhagidari Sankalp Morcha.

Om Prakash Rajbhar’s Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP), Shivpal Singh Yadav’s Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party (PSP), Keshav Dev Maurya’s Mahan Dal, and Krishna Patel’s Apna Dal are among those with whom he is in contact.
