Apple Music’s spatial audio and lossless streaming are now available to Android users

You’ve always wanted to try out that Apple app, but you don’t own an iPhone? Don’t worry, Apple Music can now be downloaded to your Android phone as well. Not only that, but Android users will also receive the new Apple Music Spatial audio and lossless streaming update, which was unveiled at the WWDC. The features were originally exclusively available to iOS users, but they are now available to Android users as well. In July, iOS users in India were able to download Apple Music Lossless and Spatial Audio.

The new Spatial audio, lossless streaming technologies, which Apple revealed at WWDC, would allow artists to create immersive audio experiences for their fans with full multidimensional sound and clarity. Apple Music customers have access to over 75 million songs in Lossless audio for free. Apple Music members will receive the update at no additional cost. Users can stream songs in high quality using lossless audio. This also implies that consumers can hear the exact same audio that the studio’s artists produced.

Spatial audio will be available on Android devices that support Dolby Atmos; however, if you’re Android phone does not support Atmos, spatial audio may not be available. The feature works with any headphones, but you’ll need Dolby Atmos on your Android phone to use it. According to The Verge, several popular Android phones, such as the Pixel 4a 5G, lack the “Dolby Atmos” option in the Apple Music settings. As a result, spatial audio would be useless in such situations. The flagship phones, on the other hand, did include an Atmos toggle.

Apple claims that it employed ALAC (Apple Lossless Audio Codec) to retain every piece of the original audio file when it comes to lossless audio. Users can listen to Lossless audio by going to Settings > Music > Audio Quality. “Users can select multiple resolutions for various connections, including cellular, Wi-Fi, and download. The Lossless tier on Apple Music begins at CD quality, which is 16 bit at 44.1 kHz (kilohertz), then progresses to 24 bit at 48 kHz, and is playable natively on Apple devices. Apple Music also delivers Hi-Resolution Lossless up to 24 bit at 192 kHz for genuine audiophiles,” Apple claimed in a blog post.
